On the morning of December 14, 2023, a delegation from Hiroshima University, Japan, led by Professor Mitsuo Ochi - the President of the University, visited and worked with the University of Agriculture and Forestry - Thai Nguyen University. During the working session, both parties discussed future collaborative programs and signed a Memorandum of Understanding and a Cooperation Agreement.

The welcoming delegation from the University of Agriculture and Forestry included Professor Nguyen The Hung - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Council, Associate Professor Nguyen Hung Quang - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, President of the University, Dr. Duong Van Thao - Head of the Department of Science, Technology, and International Cooperation, Associate Professor Hoang Thi Bich Thao - Director of the Center for Training and International Development, Ms. Ly Thi Thuy Duong - Head of the Advanced Program Office, and former Japanese alumni.

From Hiroshima University, Japan, the delegation included Professor Mitsuo Ochi - President of Hiroshima University, Professor Shinji Kaneko - Vice President, Professor Masayuki Shimada - Dean of the Faculty of Applied Biological Sciences, Professor Tran Dang Xuan - IDEC Institute, Graduate School of Advanced Science and Technology, Graduate School of Innovation and Practice for Smart Society, Dr. Nguyen Van Quan - Researcher at the Graduate School of Advanced Science and Technology, and Ms. Yu Watanabe - International Office staff.

During the meeting, Professor Nguyen The Hung expressed joy and honor in welcoming the working delegation from Hiroshima University to the University of Agriculture and Forestry. On behalf of the Hiroshima University delegation, Professor Mitsuo Ochi - President of Hiroshima University, sincerely thanked the Party Committee and the Board of Directors of the University of Agriculture and Forestry for their warm welcome.

In the working session, Associate Professor Nguyen Hung Quang and Professor Mitsuo Ochi chaired the discussion on opportunities for future collaboration between the two universities. Subsequently, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the fields of education, academic exchange, faculty and student exchange, and research collaboration. Additionally, they signed an Agreement on the establishment of a branch of Hiroshima University in the University of Agriculture and Forestry and the provision of a doctoral training program.

To achieve the objectives of the Memorandum in the fields of education, research, and the Cooperation Agreement in establishing the branch of Hiroshima University in the University of Agriculture and Forestry, both parties need to determine the contributions each will make in terms of infrastructure and human resources.

After concluding the collaboration discussions, signing the Memorandum of Understanding and the Cooperation Agreement, the leadership of the University of Agriculture and Forestry cordially invited the delegation to visit some locations on campus, including the Climate-Resilient Crop Research Center, Guest House, Center for Training and International Development, Institute of Forestry and Sustainable Development, and the Smart Rural Development Center.
