The JDS Scholarship by the Government of Japan has officially opened its application process for the academic intake in 2024.

Within the framework of cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Training, the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the JDS Scholarship - a scholarship for the development of human resources in Vietnam and Japan - has officially opened applications for the 2024 academic intake.

JDS is a fully-funded scholarship program covering tuition fees, round-trip airfare, monthly living expenses, and other allowances during the study period in Japan.

As per the program framework for the 2021-2024 period, JDS will provide scholarships for master's courses over 2 years in English and doctoral courses over 3 years in either English or Japanese at leading universities in Japan.

The study and research fields encompass economics; transportation/urban development; energy; human resource development for industrial growth; healthcare/social welfare; agriculture and rural development; environment; climate change adaptation and environmental disasters; strengthening legal systems; and enhancing administrative capacity.

The deadline for submitting applications is 5:00 PM on February 20, 2024, for master's programs and 5:00 PM on March 11, 2024, for doctoral programs.

The anticipated result announcement is scheduled for May 2024, and successful scholarship recipients will embark on their journey to Japan to participate in courses starting in August 2024.

JDS scholarships are funded by non-repayable assistance from the Japanese government, continuously implemented in Vietnam since 2000, having provided a total of 806 master's scholarships and 21 doctoral scholarships for Vietnam.
