TUAF’s Engagement in Learning through ASEAN Nations Hand in Hand for Globalization

The meeting was held in May 18, 2016. It was participated by the Vice Rector of the university, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen The Hung, Dr. Nguyen Bang Phuong, Vice-Director of International Affairs Office, Ms. Ly Thi Thuy Duong and other staff from the university to acknowledge the visitors from Philippine Solidarity Delegation to Hanoi.

After welcoming the delegates, Assoc. Professor Nguyen The Hung proudly informed everybody the fact that Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry has established close collaboration to many educational institutions in the Philippines. Assoc. Prof. Nguyen The Hung pointed out that the Advanced Education Program as one of the international programs of the university, where most of the Filipino students are involved in is supported by the Vietnamese Government. The program has developed collaboration with some university partners in the Philippines. He added that the Filipinos students along with other international students of the university are not only talented, very skilled but hardworking too. They have contributed a lot in the success of the said program.  In addition to that, TUAF is planning to extend partnership with many institutions in the Philippines concerning about quality education, training, scientific research and exchange programs.

Atty. Corazon Valdez Fabros expressed her gratitude to TUAF upon receiving a warm welcome from the officials.  She mentioned that their group of delegates was a bit surprised to witness a quite large number of Filipino students and one visiting lecturer in TUAF. Their small delegation will spend some days discovering more about lives of the people and situation in Vietnam, to be able to find out more about the current common engagements, territorial dispute, sovereignty, struggles in the sectors regarding women, history, labor and trade. And some of the objectives of visiting educational institution were to meet new friends, fellow Filipinos and most importantly to understand important learning experiences of Vietnamese education system.

Dr. Nguyen Bang Phuong, Vice-Director of International Affairs Office introduced about Thai Nguyen University of Agriculture and Forestry starting from its remarkable history up to the list of prestigious awards and titles received through the years. He showed the list of programs including bachelor up to the doctoral degree. He also presented figures about the infrastructures, valuable information about scientific research and technology transfer to the university. He proudly announced that TUAF is among the leading university in terms of international cooperation in the areas of research and training.

Ms. Ly Thi Thuy Duong, the International Program Officer, gave remarks on the contribution of international students including Filipinos in academic achievements, promoting multi-cultural environment and English speaking atmosphere among students. The students showed their talents in different performances in many events which were organized by students themselves and fully supported by the university. She added information about the Advanced Education Program is now offering two courses; Environmental Science and Management and Food Technology. The program is in collaboration with University of California, Davis, USA where students could have many chances to experience international exchange programs, internship opportunities to USA, Asia, Australia and Europe as well. TUAF is looking forward to receiving more Filipinos in the future.
